Healthy living for your dog

Posted by Maria,

My dog is big and with a big dog comes so many great benefits. But it wasn’t always like this, a few months back my dog wasn’t himself, he was growing more and more lethargic. I got really worried seeing this once energetic dog turn to a shadow of his former self. I thought it was just a phase, I thought it would pass, but it didn’t. I began researching into the topic, I wanted my dog back and would do anything to achieve this. I came across an article at Dog Beds For Large Dogs and they were talking about how a dogs bed size can really effect them. I followed the reccomendations from the articles and gradually saw massive improvement in my dog.

Make your dogs kennel a cosy retreat

Posted by Galina,

Crate covers will transform your dog’s metal crate into a safe, comfortable “bedroom” to retreat to when he is over stimulated or just in need of a nap. The cover will snugly envelope the kennel, leaving only the door area open, giving your dog the feeling of being in the security of a den. This will protect your dog from kennel related injury the same way bumper pads protect a baby in a crib and providing a more comfortable place for your dog. Dog Crate Covers provides excellent articles and and resources which enables you to give more to your dog.

German Shepherd trainers

Posted by Lupita,

As German Shepherd trainers and dog owners you need to recognize the limitations and sensitivity of your German Shepherd puppy. A puppy will tire easily. When he is exhausted and cranky asking him to fetch a ball that you have thrown once too often will add to his bad experiences. The load of these bad experiences can add up and make your puppy an unhappy dog. It may seem a minor point to you but to you little dog the cumulative weight of this will never go away. Recognize when your puppy has reached his limit so that an unreasonable demand isn’t placed on his behavior.

Potty training older dog

Posted by Doris,

Potty training older dog is similar to training a puppy. An older dog will have some ingrained habits, which will need to be changed whereas a puppy will need to learn bladder control. So, both are equally tough or easy to train depending on how much time and commitment your have. A busy person with little time to spare is not the right person to train any dog. You need patience and perseverance; you need to consistency and commitment to train dogs. Dogs are creatures of habit and they aim to please their owners. If you offer them praise and treats they will know you are pleased. If you reprimand them they know you are not pleased. So, use this as your most potent weapon in training your dog.

It’s fun training a Labrador retriever

Posted by Gianna,

Don’t consider training a Labrador retriever as a chore. It’s a small investment to make to enjoy a hassle free and clean home for years. It is also the time to bond with your new puppy. If he does not eliminate after 15 minutes of your taking him out. Bring him in and leave him in his crate and take him out again after 20 minutes. Don’t feed him water in the night. Take your puppy out after every meal and once in morning and once late in evening. Stay out till he has finished his business. Still accidents can happen as he is still small. As time goes he will learn to control his bladder

Labrador retriever dogs can be leash trained early

Posted by Cris,

Early leash training of Labrador retriever dogs is very important. Don’t wait till they grow big. They grow very fast and large. You won’t be able to leash train them when they are grown fully. Labrador puppies are very excitable and they also tend to get distracted easily. Unless they are on a leash they are likely to wander off.

Labradors are big and muscular dogs and also tend to put on weight fast. They need a limited amount of exercise every day. Don’t overexercise them as they can develop bone problems later on. Give them a balanced diet. They love to play and want a lot of attention.

German Shepard puppy training

Posted by Donette,

German Shepard puppy training can be a rewarding experience if you know the limitations and natural instincts of a puppy. You need to understand them and tailor your training accordingly. It’s most natural instinct is the prey instinct. It will follow the prey instinct to its natural conclusion or until its exhausted.

A puppy like a child needs time to explore and learn about its surroundings. As a trainer your need to guide them gently through transitions of mood with an alternative attraction such as a piece of food, a happy tone of voice, or a ball. A puppy needs a good reason to change a mood.

Posted by Xochitl,

Are there any special dog obedience training methods? No, but you need to understand your dog, it’s behavior and the general characteristics of your dog breed. If you are new this better would be to train yourself first with some dog training books for a particular breed, watch videos and learn all you can before your attempt training your dog. Most likely you will fail many times, but you should learn from your mistakes and keep it up.

Some dogs are stubborn, some are not very intelligent, and some are very playful. Each dog is different just like each individual. Learning how to deal with your dog early on will put you on a path to a positive lifelong relationship with your dog.
